Viggo Mortensen

As his last film, A DANGEROUS METHOD, gets ready to burn up the screen in the later part of this year, star Viggo Mortensen is set to team with another name with an equally sought after project bowing this year.

24 Frames is reporting that Mortensen will be teaming with DRIVE writer Hossein Amini for a new film, entitled THE TWO FACES OF JANUARY.

An adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel, the film will be directed by Amini, which will mark the 47 RONIN and MOSCOW scribe’s  directorial debut. The film will follow “an American con artist, his wife, and a stranger they meet while traveling in Athens. After one of them kills a Greek police officer, the trio enter a high-stakes game with the authorities and one another as they attempt to cover up the crime and flee the country.”

Financing is currently being sought after, so the film isn’t moving too fast. Having had a chance to see Amini’s DRIVE at Cannes this year, I can say that he’s a deftly talented writer, and it will be quite interesting to see what he’s taken away from the filmmakers with whom he has worked. Expectations are high for this one.
