Vince Vaughn’s next flick could be THE INSANE LAWS
Jeremy Garelick's (THE BREAK-UP) script for THE INSANE LAWS was picked up by Columbia Pictures in a sweet seven-figure deal back in 2009, but now since the script is in turnaround, Universal is looking to step in. If the project moves forward and gets the greenlight, Garelick - who started out as Joel Schumacher's assistant back in the day - will make his directorial debut with Vince Vaughn as his star.
The story of THE INSANE LAWS (sounds like a movie Vaughn would be in lately, huh?) centers around two best friends and how their lives are impacted when their grown children fall in love, with one man's daughter becoming pregnant by his best friend's son. Sounds complicated. The idea is based on Garelick's own life to a certain extent, which is probably why he's best suited to come on board and direct.
If Vaughn finds someone to play off of (call Jon Favreau) and Garelick allows some room for improvisation, the main conceit of INSANE LAWS could wind up having some good dramatic moments in addition to the comic bits.
Any interest in seeing Vaughn in this type of role?
