Another one has, for lack of a better phrase, bit the dust with relation to Danny Boyle’s upcoming thriller, TRANCE.

Following Michael Fassbender out the production’s door is Colin Firth, as Twitch is reporting that Vincent Cassel has been offered the role that would have been filled by the Oscar-winning thespian. The actor, if he accepts, will play Aiden, the “leader of the gang who partners with the assistants,” and will lead the film itself which follows an auction house assistant who thinks up a heist with a team of thieves. Waking up with amnesia, he is the only man to know where the focus of the heist, a painting, is located, and now has since forgotten it.

The film is set to shoot relatively soon, with an edit in 2013 following Boyle’s deal with the 2012 London Olympic opening ceremony, and while it’s upsetting to see Firth go, Cassel is an equally great actor. He’ll join James McAvoy and Scarlett Johansson in the film, a project that will be one of the many films to keep an eye on over the next two years until it hits. Here’s to hoping this casting can stick.
