Talk about an interesting voice cast.

DreamWorks Animation has announced the main voice cast for their upcoming take on the William Joyce book, The Guardians Of Childhood, entitled RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, and it’s quite a collection of actors.

Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman, Jude Law, Alec Baldwin, and Isla Fisher will be lending their voices to the film, which is a “contemporary fairytale based on existing fairytale characters,” including Jack Frost, North (aka Santa), Bunnymund (The Easter Bunny), Tooth (Tooth Fairy), and Sandy (The Sandman), who are forced to team up to help stop Pitch (the Boogeyman) from sending the world into complete and utter darkness.

Apparently Law will be playing our villain here, with Pine as Frost, Jackman as Bunnymund, Baldwin as North (perfect casting in my opinion), and Fisher as Tooth. The kicker? Guillermo del Toro is producing the project.

The film is penned by David Lindsay-Abaire, and will be helmed by Peter Ramsey, who last helmed the TV special for MONSTERS VS. ALIENS, and was head of story on the film itself. Personally, I love everyone involved here. From the voice cast, to the film’s scribe, toss in del Toro as a producer, and you have a film that I actually think could steal a lot of thunder from Pixar, particularly with the studio’s relatively slim slate in the coming years.

More on this as it comes.
