TAKE SHELTER first popped onto my radar this year at Sundance, when our very own Chase Whale gave it 5/5 in his review. Since then it has been a film I have been dying to get my hands on. The film, which premiered at Sundance in January, is directed by Jeff Nichols, who's first film, SHOTGUN STORIES, has been met with a lot of praise as well. Chase also had a chance to do an interview with Nichols, another Austinite, at Sundance about TAKE SHELTER which you should definitely watch.

TAKE SHELTER played last week at Cannes and won Grand Prize in the Critics Week competition. Here's the plot according to IMDB: Plagued by a series of apocalyptic visions, a young husband and father questions whether to shelter his family from a coming storm, or from himself.

The young father and husband is played by Michael Shannon and his wife played by Jessica Chastain. TAKE SHELTER will be out in theaters later this year and will be distributed through Sony Pictures Classics. Check out the trailer after the break.

There's also a clip posted from Cannes on Youtube of the film below.
