Watch: Robert Rodriguez-directed short film, THE BLACK MAMBA, starring Kobe Bryant
Just a day after he tore up the NBA All-Star Game, winning his record tying fourth Most Valuable Player award, the best living basketball player Kobe Bryant has finally seen the release of his Nike-inspired short film, THE BLACK MAMBA.
And shockingly, it’s one hell of a good time.
Directed by Robert Rodriguez, BLACK MAMBA, named after Bryant’s on court alter ego, also features names like Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo, and even Kanye West, all wrapped up in one hell of a fun little five minute short film.
Basically following Bryant and Rodriguez as they imagine a pitch from Rodriguez about Bryant trying to take on “The Boss,” a man with one hell of a shoe fetish. The short is a really fun little film, and while it may turn people off that it’s a commercial, there really isn’t much focus on the name of Nike or the brand as a whole. It’s well shot, and Bryant is a shockingly engaging actor, a side of him we basketball fans aren’t known to see too often.
