Fairytale

UPDATED: The film has been pulled from just about everywhere, but word is, it will be available on iTunes on October 27.

Back in June, I got to take in the world premiere of Spike Jonze's short, WE WERE ONCE A FAIRYTALE, starring Kanye West as Kanye West (sort of) at the LA Film Festival. In my review of the film, I called it "a straight shot into an alternate reality that should inevitably lead to at least half the audience thinking, 'dang, I’ve never been that drunk.'" I best explained it as making the audience "so uncomfortable that it’s possible you’re just going to slip off your seat and right onto your ass." In a wholly inexplicable way, I loved it. You can read my full review HERE.

As The Playlist notes, the short was supposed to be released on iTunes for viewing last month, but has just shown up today. Tthe full short is online for your viewing pleasure and pondering.

Take a look after the jump.

What do you think? After catching WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE this weekend, what do you think of Kanye's wee friend at the end?

I had a REALLY hard time sitting through all of that. That film is so uncomfortable in almost every single way. Whether it's the rambling doucheries of “Kanye” or the insane ending I just couldn't see the point… and I don't think I want to.

I had a hard time knowing if I enjoyed it or not. I was easily just as uncomfortable as when I saw Human Centipede… maybe more. It's the kind of uncomfortable you get when you see some one singing the National Anthem and then suddenly they forget ALL the words…

I honestly have no idea what I just watched.
But I have to say, I really like how their collaborations (both this and the “Flashing Lights” video) take Kanye off the pedestal that he creates through his music/videos. I don't know if this is on purpose or not; but I like seeing Kanye in vulnerable positions, not just living “the good life”.
And Kate! I read your review on this video after I watched it, and it's spot on. Great job.
