Talk about a weird collection of names.

According to Deadline, director Wayne Wang will be directing a new biopic based on the life of Albert Einstein, based off of a screenplay penned by RAIN MAN scribe Ron Bass.

The film is tentatively titled EINSTEIN, and will follow the “true inspirational story of the trials, tragedies and vindication of the single-most celebrated scientist of the 20th century. Torn between the burdens of a family and his restless pursuit of unlocking the mysteries of the universe, he not only achieved unparalleled stature as a genius but he also changed the world forever - at no small cost to himself and those around him.”

Now, while the addition of Bass is an interesting one, the real name here that brings a lot of intrigue is director Wayne Wang. Best known for films like THE JOY LUCK CLUB, he is currently in post-production on a new film titled SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN, which will star Hugh Jackman. He’s a really intriguing filmmaker who has had a weird and really mixed filmography as of this date. The premise sounds compelling, and given a solid cast, this may be a real winner.
