Never let it be said that WB doesn’t know how to get its films out to the public.

After their relatively successful DVD-on-demand service known as The Warner Archive became a rather interesting move for the studio, they have now announced that Facebook users can use “Facebook Credits” to rent or purchase on the WB Entertainment Facebook Page.

Facebook users can use “Facebook Credits to easily buy or rent a title, all while staying connected on Facebook.” And these aren’t just the rather unknown and more niche titles that something like the Warner Archive focuses on. As of now, users can even rent films like THE DARK KNIGHT, all for the price of 30 Facebook Credits, or for $3.

Each rental is good for 48 hours after the purchase, so it roughly uses the same model as iTunes.

Personally, I think this is rather interesting. I’m not the avid Facebook user (prefer Twitter, but that’s just me), and while web-based streaming is nothing new, it is definitely interesting to see a studio start to use a social media site like Facebook to rent or purchase digital copies of films. This is a trend that’s more than likely going to become something of a norm down the line, so it will definitely be something to keep an eye on from here on out.

What do you think? Will you use this service?
