WB tapping Will Beall to pen LOGAN’S RUN

Warner Bros. sure as hell loves TALES FROM THE GANGSTER SQUAD.

For a while now, writer Alex Garland has been the scribe behind the long-talked about remake of 1976 film, LOGAN’S RUN. Through directorial changes, Garland has always been the project’s one constant. That is, until now.

THR is report that TALES FROM THE GANGSTER SQUAD scribe Will Beall will now be penning the project, which will re-team DRIVE star and director Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn.

GANGSTER SQUAD has become arguably the most buzzed about project at WB, if not in the whole of Hollywood, and appears to be quite the beloved project within the studio. Beall will pen the film, which is set in "a future society where people are executed upon reaching a certain age and those that seek to avoid their fate are deemed 'Runners.' The character of Logan is one of those executioners, known as the Sandmen, who ends up on the run after he becomes sympathetic with members of an underground railroad of Runners."

Personally, this could not be better news. I’m an admittedly massive fan of director Nicolas Winding Refn, who, after films like the PUSHER trilogy, BRONSON, and VALHALLA RISING, has become one of the film world’s brightest auteurs. Toss in Gosling and Beall, and you have a project that really can’t get here fast enough.

What do you think?
