We know he’s up for an honorary Oscar but, apparently, Jean-Luc Godard doesn’t

You would think that, if you were to receive an honorary Oscar, you would either want to know about it, or at least would somehow find out about it.

Apparently, no matter how hard the Academy, or its executive director Bruce Davis more specifically, try, they cannot get through to the center of their recent list of honorary winners, Jean-Luc Godard.

According to THR, Davis said that “we have tried by telephone, by fax, by emails to various friends and associates.  We have sent a formal letter by Fedex. But we have certainly not been told he will show up at this point.” And don’t be shocked if he doesn’t.

For those who may remember, the auteur recently skipped out on doing the press rounds at this year’s Cannes Film Festival for his new film FILM SOCIALISME, a place that has played home to him and his work for decades now, so don’t be shocked if he skips the Oscar ceremony this year. At this point, I could be wrong, as it looks like the director doesn’t even know he’s up for this award yet, but one of the rare names in the film world who may be above the Oscar ceremony, apparently wants no part of the show. And really, who could blame him?
