Weekend box office: Knowing comes out on top
Never underestimate the box office power of Nicholas Cage, especially when combined with an apocalyptic end-of-the-world scenario. This was the killer combination that took his new movie KNOWING right to the top of the weekend box office during its opening weekend. The film made $24,814,000, just ahead of I LOVE YOU, MAN and DUPLICITY, which made $18,005,000 and $14,402,000, respectively, during their first weekends.
WATCHMEN continued its fall from grace, landing at number 5 with only $6,725,000. And to think that only two weeks ago it was making $55 million. The film has had a drop of over 60% in tickets sales each week since it opened. Keep reading to see the complete break down for the weekend box office.
