Weinstein Company sets dates for SCARY MOVIE 5, HALLOWEEN 3D, and more
With the film it originally modeled itself after made its way back to theaters this year in the form of SCREAM 4, The Weinstein Company are looking to bring back the spoof franchise, SCARY MOVIE, along with many other films.
Box Office Mojo (via /Film) has revealed that the distributor has set release dates for a cavalcade of releases, including CORIOLANUS (12/2/11), HALLOWEEN 3D (10/26/12), SCARY MOVIE 5 (4/20/12 of course), THE IRON LADY (12/16/11), THE ARTIST (11/13/11), THE BULLY PROJECT (11/11/11) and MY WEEK WITH MARILYN (11/4/11).
Now, while SCARY MOVIE 5 is getting the headlines, films like MY WEEK and THE ARTIST are the most intriguing members of this list. ARTIST absolutely tore apart this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and films like CORIOLANUS, MARILYN, and particularly the Meryl Streep-starring THE IRON LADY are some of the biggest players set to debut during the latter portions of this year.
SCARY MOVIE 5 however is also an odd franchise. Not much has been heard surrounding this film, so it remains to be seen just who will be involved here. If the right team is set up, it could be interesting to see this franchise come back. That said, along with something like HALLOWEEN 3D, this is an oddly mixed release slate.
