Gordon and the Whale is very pleased to welcome Gabriel Ruzin to our team.

Gabriel began his meteoric online career writing a WordPress blog aptly titled "The Schadendude" (in a somewhat shaky bit of word play on "schadenfreude"), and has been a Contributing Editor to UK geek site Shadowlocked, as well as contributing to Mile High Cinema, AV Club Denver/Boulder (RIP), and HorseRacing.com (not a typo).

He lives in Denver, is married to the beautiful Leora (who continually proves that the Thinner curse isn't necessarily a bad thing) and is a stay-at-home dad to their 4-year-old daughter Natasha, aka The Amazing Vibrating Child.

An admirer of an oodles' worth of entertainment genres and a despiser of two oodles' worth, Gabriel loves black comedies, suspense, classic TV, and all things non-sucky. He is currently writing a book on The Twilight Zone for Applause Books. He's watched an estimated 900 films, but has never seen CITIZEN KANE.

Connect with Gabriel on Twitter @RewindStopPlay.

    Only 900?

I’ve been using letterboxd and (to a greater extent) ICheckMovies to try to remember everything I’ve seen. I’m currently around 900. It will surely go up once I can remember more. It’s fun coming up with a number, but how would one honestly go about figuring out exactly how many movies they’ve seen, without missing some? It’s impossible.
