WHIP IT will skate into theaters a week earlier!
WHIP IT - Drew Barrymore's directorial debut - will be rolling into theaters a week earlier. The new release date is Friday, October 2nd (previously Friday, October 9th).
This serves as very good news for Barrymore. Most of the time, it's a great sign when a film opens earlier than originally planned; it usually means it tested well with audiences that saw the film early (called a "focus group"), and who gave thoughts on what they liked and didn't.
Giving Ellen Page the lead, WHIP IT centers on a stand-out misfit (Page) living in a small town in Texas who cures her boredom by joining a roller derby league near Austin. If you’ve been to a roller derby tournament before, you’ll know this is no joke – these ladies are out for bruises and blood!
WHIP IT also stars Juliette Lewis, Kirsten Wiig, Alia Shawkat (Maeby on ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT), Eve, Jimmy Fallon, and Zoe Bell – the badass chick on top of the Camaro in DEATH PROOF.
