With his return to the big screen, MEN IN BLACK 3, appearing to be nothing more than a black hole full of money, a cavalcade of writers and lost potential, its biggest star, Will Smith, will now not only be teaming with his son, but also one of the most maligned filmmakers around.

Deadline is reporting that Smith will be starring alongside son Jaden in M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming film, ONE THOUSAND A.E.

Penned by Shyamalan (yikes) and Gary Whitta, we don’t quite know all that much about the film, other than that it follows a child and his father, who ultimately must explore a new planet that they land on.  That is literally all we know at this point other than that it has no start date yet, and that it does appear to by Shyamalan’s next feature.

Personally, I don’t have an issue with the Smith duo starring next to one another.  Actually, I think it could be quite good, particularly if their relationship is what we really must focus on here.  However, it’s the fact that Shyamalan’s hands are on this film’s screenplay that really has me a bit worried.  Not the most subtle of writer (or filmmaker for that matter), this is definitely an issue.
