Including names like Matt Damon, Sharlto Copley, Jodie Foster, and Wagner Moura, the upcoming follow-up to his debut feature, DISTRICT 9, director Neill Blomkamp's ELYSIUM just got even more interesting.

Variety has revealed that William Fichtner has joined the film’s cast.

At this point, details are relatively scarce regarding the film, other than that it will be set 100 years in the future, and will star Damon, with Moura as the film’s primary villain. Also, Syd Mead, the iconic designer (BLADE RUNNER), is also aboard the film.

While I was not the biggest fan of DISTRICT 9, I did respect the film’s scope and the director’s skill behind the camera. This project sounds really quite compelling, and when paired with an absolutely top level cast as it appears is being built here, you have a film that really can’t get here fast enough.

It goes without saying that Fichtner is one of the greatest character actors we have around, so his addition to this film definitely adds a lot of intrigue to an already fantastic-sounding project. Too bad we have to wait until March 8, 2013 to finally see it.
