Sure, his next film, MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, may be opening this year’s Cannes Film Festival, but to no one’s shock, Woody Allen is already hard at work on setting up his next project.

Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, Alec Baldwin, and Penelope Cruz, the film will be set in Rome, continuing his run of non-New York based projects like PARIS and VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA, and now it has a title.

Known lovingly as WOODY ALLEN FALL PROJECT 2011, Le Journal du dimanche (via The Playlist) is reporting that the film will now be titled THE WRONG PICTURE. Now, that’s simply all we really know about the project, other than rumors that French First Lady and MIGNIGHT IN PARIS cast member Carla Bruni will not be featured in this new project. Obviously, more casting is on the way, and plot details shouldn’t be held under lock and key for too long.

Personally, Allen has had a bit of a return to form after leaving New York, and even when he does return, for something like WHATEVER WORKS, it’s genuinely subpar cinema with regards to his broader filmography. I love this cast, so hopefully the Rome setting will do wonder’s for Allen’s filmmaking.
