WTF? Andy Samberg to play Adam Sandler’s son in I HATE YOU DAD
File this under "crazy casting."
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Saturday Night Live alum Adam Sander will be teaming up with current SNL cast member Andy Samberg in a comedy titled I HATE YOU DAD. The film is one of several currently in development under Sandler's Happy Madison label. The plot is said to follow a father who meets his son's bride-to-be on the eve of their wedding, only to begin feuding with her.
Sounds pretty harmless, right? Well, it would be, were it not for the fact that Sandler is in talks to star as the father while Samberg fills in as his son.
What? Sandler is only twelve years older than Samberg in real life, and at 44 he's not even that old. Now, I'm aware that Hollywood can do a lot of fancy-schmancy makeup and effects work to make Sandler look appropriately older, but you have to admit, it does feel a bit strange imagining him as Samberg's father. If it's biologically impossible in real life, why try to sell it to us on the big screen?
It'll be interesting to see how the film develops and if any casting changes occur. What do you think?
