WTF: Ashton Kutcher to play Steve Jobs in biopic JOBS

April 2nd, 2012

No, this isn’t someone posting a late April Fool’s Day joke. That headline is as real as an earthquake.

According to Variety, one Ashton Kutcher has been tapped to take on the role of the late Steve Jobs for a new biopic, entitle JOBS.

The film is set to shoot next month, once shooting on Two And A Half Men is wrapped, and will be financed by Mark Hulme, head of Five Star Institute. The first film he’s financed, the piece will look at his life as a “way-ward hippie” all the way to his now iconic status as co-founder of Apple.

Personally, while I think I’m a tad more excited for Sony’s upcoming Jobs film, as it’s based on the fantastic biography penned by Walter Isaacson with a possible writing job for Aaron Sorkin, I think this one could be quite interesting as well.  Kutcher is an odd, but inspired choice for the lead role here, a role that any and everyone in Hollywood seems to want. Who knows? This sucker could be just the career booster Kutcher has been waiting for.
