WTF? Darren Aronofsky to direct George Washington biopic

Darren Aronofsky is currently shopping his "big fantasy epic" NOAH

Now, most of the time, when I bust out that acronym, it’s used as a pejorative.  However, this may be one of the most random, yet brilliantly bizarre pieces of news I’ve ever had the joy of writing.

Variety is reporting that director Darren Aronofsky will be helming a new biopic, in the vein of something like UNFORGIVEN, looking at the life of George Washington.  Yes, that sentence is shockingly true.

And this writer couldn’t be happier.

Aronofsky was at one time attached to a film revolving around the life of Jackie Kennedy, so he’s clearly interested in pursuing a true-blue biopic. With NOAH on the horizon, worldwide icons seem to be his thing lately. However, this is the first time that this particular project has been discussed, and it sounds wonderful.

I think Aronofsky is one of the greatest film directors that we have today, so the idea of him taking on a project like this is great.  Here comes casting, though:  Who would you tap for the lead role?
