X-MEN: FIRST CLASS gets a KICK-ASS screenwriter for rewrite
With the recent announcement of Matthew Vaughn being tapped to helm the upcoming prequel to the X-Men franchise, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, it looks like the film is getting a few new eyes to take a look on the screenplay.
The film was The film was originally scribed by The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz, as well as Jamie Moss (STREET KINGS), and the duo of Zack Stentz and Ashley Edward Miller. However, according to HitFix, the script will be getting the once over by frequent Vaughn collaborator, Jane Goldman. Goldman has many credits to her name, including co-writing spots on Vaughn’s last two films, KICK-ASS and STARDUST.
While the re-write looks to be only minimal things, as the film is slated to hit theaters in June of next year, I can’t help but be really excited. I’m not the biggest fan of having a large number of hands on one single script, but Goldman is not only a really gifted writer, but the team of Goldman and Vaughn have pumped out a few rather beloved films in STARDUST and KICK-ASS. Hopefully they will be able to bring the same sense of fun and action to this film, which is in dire need of some more really great buzz like this.
