Xu Qing joins LOOPER
With everyone at a loss for words talking about the upcoming Rian Johnson sci-fi time travel action film, LOOPER, especially after it was revealed to feature effects work done by time travel deity Shane Carruth (director of PRIMER), the cast just got a lot more interesting as well.
THR is reporting that Chinese actress Xu Qing has joined the film’s cast, which begins shooting next week. The film already stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Paul Dano, and Emily Blunt, and is set in a world “sixty years from now where China is the leading super power and time travel has been invented.” The film was originally set to be set in France, but it appears as though Johnson has simply rewritten the script, to accommodate the film’s production, which is being backed by Beijing advertising/film production firm, DMG.
Personally, while I’m not all that familiar with Qing’s work, she was fantastic in the film FAREWELL MY CONCUBINE, and will definitely add a level of depth to the film’s cast. Honestly, they could add the cast of JACKASS, and I think I’d still have massive expectations.
